The U.K’s longest established framing supplies company. We have been manufacturing picture mouldings and supplying the Framing trade and Galleries with all of their framing requirements for over 90 years. Based in Nottingham we are ideally placed for distribution throughout the U.K. and Ireland. All telephone calls are answered by experienced framing staff.
Our objective is to give trade customers the best possible quality and service, and we are pleased to offer a range of over 2000 picture frame mouldings from stock, manufactured by ourselves in Nottingham or imported from the best factories in Italy and Spain. We also offer a complete range of mountboards from the U.K’s top manufacturers, and a complete A-Z of framer’s materials and equipment from Archival Tape to Z Clips to meet all your picture framing requirements.
Ashworth & Thompson was founded in January 1931 by Stanley Ashworth and Frank Thompson in Nottingham city centre.
After the 2nd World War, Stanley and Frank were joined by Gren Ashworth, and a few years later by Brian Thompson Through steady growth in the 50s and 60s the Company established itself as a supplier of quality picture mouldings of their own manufacture, and unique mouldings from Norway, Sweden and Spain, and later Italy. Richard Ashworth joined the Company in 1966 and Peter Thompson in 1986.
During the 70s and 80s Ashworth & Thompson opened branches in the UK and Ireland. Also during this period, Ashworth & Thompson produced the first full colour catalogue of their mouldings as early as 1974 – years in advance of any other UK supplier. In 1975, the Company moved from the city centre and in 1986 moved again to purpose built 20,000 sq.ft premises and in 2018 moved to the new offices from which we operate from today.
Before the Company had professional Sales Representatives, the Directors did their own sales representation, (or travelling as it was known then) all over the country. In this way many customers and friendships were made, which in many cases carry on to the present day.
Throughout the many changes witnessed in our industry, Ashworth & Thompson have remained true to their original ethic of supplying top quality products with a personal service, and are estimated to have supplied picture frame mouldings to the UK trade for longer than anyone else.
After more than 80 years the Company is still family owned and managed.

We are sorry to advise that we are closing down at Ashworth & Thompson Ltd. It’s the end of an Era for us.
We will remain open while we have stock to sell and this will take us to the end of November 24 at least.
We have a Clearance price list ,showing discounts and the quantity in stock, for all our available Mouldings. See the menu option “Clearance Prices” We can provide a password on request to trade customers.
